Google Fi and T-Mobile are built for travelers, not people who've relocated — both restrict service after extended time outside the US. These two options are built on major US networks but registered as genuine carrier lines, so they pass the bank and government 2FA checks that services like Google Voice sometimes fail.
US Mobile
Fewer reported delivery failures for bank verification codes than the alternative below — the single most important reliability metric for a line whose entire job is receiving a text from your bank. Runs on major US networks, not VoIP.
Real complaints exist around refund handling — including at least one case where a customer's service never worked at all and a refund was refused. Use a credit card for the initial signup, not a debit card, so a dispute stays possible if something goes wrong.

Genuinely the cheapest option that still passes bank 2FA checks, and multiple expats specifically confirm it working via Wi-Fi calling from abroad. A reasonable second choice if US Mobile's price or availability doesn't work for you.
Billing dispute complaints are common enough to flag directly — including accumulated account credit being wiped without warning. Keep your own records of any credits or referral balances rather than relying on the account showing them accurately.
